Meal Kit Sponsor Program

Sponsor Through Meals

Why a meal kit sponsorship program?

1 in 8 Canadian households are food insecure. That means we all probably know someone who is struggling to feed their family, but don’t realize it.

Our sponsorship meal kit program is like a food bank 2.0. Where a traditional food bank gives you a box of donated, miscellaneous food, which you still have to get there to pick up, transport, and meal plan around. We meal plan, purchase, and deliver the food right to your door. Because food insecurity is not only about struggling with the amount you spend on food, it often has to do with transportation and access to healthy food options in lower income or rural areas. By planning and transporting complete kit meal boxes, we address many more factors than a traditional food bank does and we are able to reach more people. Here at The Light Up Ahead Project, we believe that healthy food is a human right.

How does the meal sponsorship plan work?

1 month will give a family of two, fifteen dinners plus leftovers. A sponsorship is $80 a month, we recommend that you and a friend each pitch in $40 to sponsor a family. We do all of the shopping, packing, and drop off the box at the beginning of the month, and then half way through we deliver more fresh veggies. Each box includes groceries, recipes, meal planning tips, and a complete grocery list of everything that’s in the box, to help people learn how to grocery shop health-consciously and inexpensively in the future. Our goal is to not only provide food to people who are struggling, but teach them how to cook and meal prep affordable, healthy food.
